ORCHARD MIDDLE SCHOOL

The modernization of Orchard Middle School involved both exterior and interior improvements. 6,885 s.f. was added to the existing 71,321 s.f. building. The primary building entrance was reoriented and highlighted with the addition of a lighted canopy. "KalWall," translucent wall panels above the canopy, let diffuse natural light into the entrance lobby. The site was reconfigured so that buses and cars are separated from students and other pedestrians.

In the existing building, a stage was converted into a new auxiliary gymnasium. New cabinetry, windows, flooring and lockers were provided throughout. A new HVAC system, new plumbing fixtures, and new electrical service and fixtures were installed.
