Location: Chelan, WA
Tom & Keith purchased a plot of land in Chelan with a steep site and architectural plans already included. What we quickly discovered about the couple is their particular eye for design and intuition when it comes to space planning. The plans included with the purchase were spatially fitting to their needs, but the Nantucket appearance was not befitting of their more contemporary style.
Forte identified the needs of the clients and tailored a whole new set of plans to their needs. The initial concept of breezeways, or bridges between living quarters was not lost from the original plans but actually enhanced. The house will feature two glass and steel connection points that purposefully frame viewports of Lake Chelan. A butterfly roof sets the main connection point and entry of the residence apart from the guest wing and master suite. A large deck off of the main kitchen/living area will offer a covered gathering space for outdoor seating & dining with their family and friends. A lower level multi-function space contains a laundry/mud-room, a supplemental kitchen/dining area, and a gathering space that opens out onto a lower platform closer to the lake’s water level.
