The Town Toyota Center's Top Shelf Lounge interior re-design was inspired by the lounge's new sponsor Jack Daniel's Whiskey. In collaboration with the events staff, Forte Architects generated interior renderings, sections, and elevations to best convey the overall theme of the rejuvenated lounge interior design. The design work was performed by Forte pro-bono, and the events staff were the key players in renovating the space.
The lounge is located on the upper level of the center, facing Walla Walla Park, and offering elevated views of the Columbia River. The existing window treatments were the first item to be removed from the plan. The existing curtains were screening the elevated views in order to preserve the picture quality on the wall-mounted television screens during events. Next, the television screens and viewing areas were re-arranged to reduce the probability of solar glare and provide more seating functionality within the space. Special order copper p-lam wall treatments were ordered and installed to pay homage to the copper color of barrel aged whiskey. Plank-style luxury vinyl tiles were applied to contribute the look and feel of wood floors, but reduce and absorb noise, and are able to perform better as this surely will be a more high trafficked area. As the project progresses, locally sourced and reclaimed lumber will offer a new texture within the space as it is applied to the walls in varying patterns. By incorporating the darker, and more intimate color schemes from the Jack Daniel's Whiskey brand the lounge became more of a destination place, rather than just a concession stop-over.
