The pursuit of knowledge will never cease nor tire. Unfortunately, due to the prejudice of time, the vestibules in which knowledge is contained sometimes will. North Central Regional Library commissioned Forte Architects to modernize the interior of the Wenatchee Public Library.
The existing library has not had much improvement since it's completion apart from restroom remodeling and carpet upgrades. Forte, along with the client’s valuable input, has finely crafted the interior to once again be an exciting, and enjoyable destination. Those wishing to increase their knowledge through reading, studying, surfing the web, or checking out a movie can now do so in a relaxed and fun way. Specific improvements include new carpeting, updated shelving and seating areas, a more efficient circulation desk, illuminated and suspended literature section marquees, as well as a completely innovative cataloging and information system. A café space has been designed near the entrance of the library as an added community asset for library users, staff and visitors. The upper mezzanine will provide space for guest lecturers and receive specialized treatments that denote Northwestern heritage themes. The lower mezzanine will receive restroom updates, new computer workstations, and individual study-meeting rooms designed to utilize layers of transparency which provide both safety and privacy.
